The Notorious B.I.G. was featured in The Source’s ‘Unsigned Hype’ in 1992

Published March 26, 2022 by

Before there was Bad Boy, The Notorious B.I.G. was making a name for himself. The Source was once considered the holy grail of hip-hop journalism. If there was one column that was the most coveted for up-and-coming rappers during the height of the 1990s, it was the Unsigned Hype feature and The Notorious B.I.G. made it happen in March of 1992.

The verse that got him between the pages of the rap bible was taken from a demo tape he recorded with The Hitman 50 Grand. Just five short years later, Biggie would be gunned down in Los Angles on March 9.
