Young Thug’s Co-Defendant Files Lawsuit Over Jail Conditions

Published January 28, 2025 by

Shannon Stillwell sues Fulton County Jail, alleging cruel treatment and violations of constitutional rights

The aftermath of Young Thug’s YSL trial continues to unfold, as one of his co-defendants, Shannon Stillwell, is suing authorities in Fulton County, Georgia, over his alleged mistreatment while incarcerated in Fulton County Jail. The lawsuit, filed on December 10 in federal court, comes a week after Stillwell was found guilty of one charge—possession of a firearm by a convicted felon—and sentenced to time served and probation. He was released from jail on December 17.

Stillwell, joined by fellow inmate Nkenegen Hambrick, filed the legal action as a class action suit for anyone who has been, is, or will be detained in the facility. Fulton County Sheriff Patrick Labat and the county’s chief jailer, John Jackson, are named in the lawsuit. The suit accuses the jail of providing “cruel and unusual” conditions that violate prisoners’ constitutional rights.

The allegations include the failure to restrict access to materials for makeshift weapons, broken doors allowing unauthorized entry or exit from jail cells, and unsanitary conditions, with prisoners allegedly subjected to inadequate food and hygiene. Stillwell was one of the few defendants in the YSL case to face trial, with co-defendant Yak Gotti found not guilty on all counts.
