Did you think that Kanye was the only rapper to run for president? Rapper/ producer and member of The Fugees Wyclef jean once declared himself a candidate for president of Haiti. The island nation has a long history of conflict and corruption, and Jean wanted to do something about it.
In 2010, he petitioned to be a candidate but the country’s electoral council denied the rapper a spot on the ticket. The reason? He wasn’t living in the country for the previous five years, which is required to be a candidate. ‘Clef released a song called “If I Was President” in 2008 but how that would work in reality, I guess we’ll never know.
