The Game Honors Kobe Bryant Amid L.A. Wildfire Crisis

Published January 30, 2025 by

Game connects rainfall to a heavenly gift from “Black Mamba” as the city recovers

On Sunday, January 26, The Game shared a heartfelt Instagram post reflecting on the recent wildfires ravaging Los Angeles and the rainfall that provided some relief. In his post, the Compton rapper made a poignant connection between the downpour and the late Kobe Bryant, the legendary Los Angeles Lakers star who passed away five years ago that same day.

“Rain in L.A. today on the 5th anniversary of Kobe’s, Gigi’s & all the beautiful souls that passed with them… and now the fires are nearly contained,” he wrote, suggesting the rain was a divine gift from Bryant, who spent his entire career in L.A.

The Game also thanked the people who came together to help the city in the aftermath, from first responders to volunteers. “I truly ‘THANK YOU’ from the bottom of my heart,” he expressed.

The wildfires, which have devastated the region for over two weeks, have claimed 28 lives and forced hundreds of thousands to evacuate. As L.A. recovers, the city remains on high alert with flood warnings due to the scorched earth’s inability to absorb the rainfall.
