The “EE ER” sound effect on Roddy Ricch’s The Box was inspired by Michael Jackson

1 min read

During his appearance on HBO’s ‘The Shop: Uninterrupted,’ Roddy Ricch explained to a couple athletes, Steve Stoute and comedian Tiffany Haddish, what inspired the “ee-er” sound effect for The Box.

Roddy Ricch says he saw a video of Michael Jackson beatboxing in the studio and implementing it in the beat, which inspired him to do the same for ‘The Box’. Which has been No. 1 for nine weeks.

“I seen Michael Jackson do it. That’s what made me want to do it. ‘Cause he was in the studio one time and he was talking about some song that he made but he started beatboxing and he said he put that in the beat.”

No video of Michael Jackson yet. But we’ll update once found.
