Questlove says rappers keeping Hip-Hop alive today go unnoticed: ‘There’s so much quality’

Published June 29, 2024 by

Quest believes some rappers don’t get credit they deserve

Questlove previously stirred up controversy when he declared that “Hip-Hop is dead,” but it looks he doesn’t hold that stance anymore.

During a recent appearance on NPR, the rapper said that Hip-Hop is indeed alive, only that those who keep that away don’t get enough attention.

“I don’t think hip-hop is dead,” he explained. “If an MC like Little Simz, which people rarely talk about … I don’t think people give enough attention to Griselda: Westside [Gunn], Conway [The Machine] and Benny [The Butcher]. Or even, like, Tobe [Nwigwe], Mick Jenkins, Errol Holden, even Denzel Curry. There’s so much quality, dope stuff out there that just goes unnoticed and unchampioned.”
