Meek Mill Reflects on Past Beef with Drake Amid Legal Battle with Kendrick Lamar

Published January 21, 2025 by

‘I’m a champ, I lost many things, I learn from them and move on’ — Meek Mill on Drake’s Legal Feud

Meek Mill has shared his thoughts on Drake’s recent defamation lawsuit against Universal Music Group, reflecting on his own infamous 2015 beef with the rapper. The legal action, which stems from Kendrick Lamar’s diss track “Not Like Us,” has drawn parallels to the feud between Meek and Drizzy, which ignited when Meek accused the Toronto artist of using ghostwriters.

In a post responding to a comment from battle rapper Arsonal Da Rebel, Meek did not address Drake’s lawsuit directly but offered insight into his experience following their highly publicized rivalry. Meek recalled how his label at the time had advised against releasing new music, but he defied them by dropping his DC4 mixtape, which sold 90,000 copies in its first week. Despite facing challenges with playlist placements, Meek was determined to push through, recognizing the importance of influence in the music industry.

Label told me don’t drop nothing .. I went against that and dropped dc4 mixxtape “Shari Bryant backed me herself” 90k first week to heat up … I couldn’t make any playlist either that had me confused a lil losing confidence but I knew 80% was campaign! Influence for the net only https://t.co/e6NUQGEomO

“I’m a champ. I lost many things, I learn from them and move on,” Meek wrote, also sharing his aspirations for 2025. “I’m going to make $100M off rap because I was in a system so long. It’s time to break that jawn.”

It all comes down to who know who …once I started owning companies I wanted to be in convo with the high level shakers and owners if I made more than 100m on a label because not the only business I got and I deal with the top people at companies to get top results! https://t.co/uqh0jcxWJE
