Meek Mill ends contract with Roc Nation after 10 years

Published July 11, 2022 by

Meek Mill had also signed a joint contract with Roc on behalf of Dream Chasers in 2019

Philly rapper Meek Mill is no longer part of Jay Z‘s label Roc Nation. According to a report by Billboard on Monday (July 11), Meek has been removed from Roc’s website & social pages. The ‘’Pain Away’’ rapper signed a management with the label in 2012, around the time he broke out onto the scene. In 2019, the 35-year old MC signed a joint deal with Roc for his own imprint, Dream Chasers.

In February this year, Meek flamed his label Atlantic Records for not promoting his 2021 album, Expensive Pain, which earned him the third spot on Billboard 200 after selling 95,000 album-equivalent units in the first week.

“They didn’t put nothing into expensive pain and then said I can’t drop another project for 9 months at the end of my contract after I made them 100’s of millions,” he tweeted. “How would can anybody survive that … most rappers can’t speak because they depend on these companies ‘I don’t.’”

He went on to blame the label for messing with his relationship with Roddy Ricch. “So look I made Atlantic records 100’s of millions and let them rape me out out Roddy a artist they came to me about in jail … they still saying I can’t drop music until 9 months after my last album got blackballed just wrapped buildings and Nina art with talent.”

He added, “Roddy my youngin still …. But that label seperated us instantly when the millions came in from him… same thing they tried to do with me and rozay … it takes a long time to catch up too because most of em tied in for the love of some money …artist scared to speak up.”
