During a 2016 interview with The Breakfast Club, The late Mac Miller, born Malcolm McCormick, revealed he was named after human rights activist Malcolm X.
“I don’t think you tell people that you’re named after Malcolm X enough” Charlamagne says, “I just feel like stuff like that can help with race relations” he adds.
“Yeah man, i mean yeah… My dad wanted my middle name to be Xavier” Mac Miller says “So that it can really be Malcolm X” he adds.
During the interview Mac Miller also revealed he likes people who know him calling him Malcolm more, after being asked if it was easier to be Malcolm McCormick or Mac Miller .
