Logic Says He Can No Longer Speak to His Mother: “She’s Just a Mentally Ill Person”

Rapper opens up about painful childhood, estranged parents in emotional interview

Logic has revealed that he is no longer in contact with his mother and hasn’t seen her in over a decade, describing their relationship as irreparably broken due to her mental health struggles and a history of trauma.

In a raw and emotional appearance on The Adam Friedland Show, the rapper reflected on his upbringing, saying, “One of the last times I had spoken to my mom was on my 21st birthday… She’s just a mentally ill person.”

He recalled one of their last encounters during his teenage years, saying: “She was like covered in blood and naked and screaming and the police were there. It was a whole thing.”

Logic previously detailed his painful past on the 2012 track “Dear God,” where he claimed his mother tried to kill him when he was nine.

His relationship with his father has also been strained. On his podcast last year, Logic emotionally confronted his father’s absence due to crack addiction. “There is still that little boy that’s still waiting on the curb,” he said through tears.

Despite the deep wounds, Logic says he’s worked to let go of anger — but the scars clearly remain.
