Lil Wayne briefly worked as a suicide prevention aid while serving his eight-month jail sentence at Rikers Island. Lil Wayne revealed he worked the highest-paying job an inmate can get in his memoir “Gone ‘Til November: A Journal of Rikers Island,” which he wrote during his eight-month jail sentence in 2010.

The job is basically to monitor the tier for an eight-hour shift and if someone wants to hang up (meaning to kill themselves), to not negotiate with them or try to talk them out of it, but just to alert an officer, Yeah, it’s that real. Lil Wayne wrote about the job.

Lil Wayne also wrote about hearing his song call him “dada” for the first time in jail and being visited by Drake, Kanye West and Diddy.
