Lil Wayne Addresses Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Lyrics and Clears the Air About Their Current Relationship

Wayne Discusses Kendrick Lamar’s Super Bowl Lyrics and Their Relationship Status

Lil Wayne recently spoke out about Kendrick Lamar name-dropping him in the track “wacced out murals,” from his new album GNX. He claimed to haven’t heard the song until it was read during an interview with Skip Bayless. Wayne, however, clarified that he now understood Dot’s sentiment and appreciated Lamar’s drift despite previous lyrics that sparked some tensions.

Bayless read those lines from the song where Lamar pondered whether his successes disappointed Wayne as a reference to the rapper’s public discontent for not being included in the Super Bowl halftime show. Wayne said, “That was my first time hearing it. I think he is a fan like I’m a fan of his music. He didn’t let me down.”

Wayne also explained that his former ‘letdown’ was due to frustration with himself and not related to any ill feelings toward Lamar. He added, “No explanation needed. His hard work got him there. That ‘let me down’ part was just me being upset about not getting that spot.”

When asked if he would join Lamar on stage as a surprise guest at the Super Bowl, Wayne simply threw away the idea, as he would not be in the country when the event happened.

After the GNX, Wayne vented publicly, almost in tears, on X (formerly Twitter), writing: “Man wtf I do?! I just be chillin & dey still kome 4 my head.” He goes further to warn, saying, “Let this giant sleep…I shall destroy if disturbed.”

According to reports from the industry insider, Joe Budden, the rumor was that Wayne reached out to Kendrick but did not receive any reciprocation, which has stirred speculation that a diss track would follow.

Besides the past drama, Wayne’s latest comments suggest closure forged through mutual respect and recognition of each other’s accomplishments.
