Lil Rodney Cee, a member of Funky 4 + 1 (Funky Four Plus One), who is featured on Funky 4 + 1’s 1979 hit single “Rappin And Rocking The House” was the first rapper to have ‘Lil’ in his name. Lil Rodney Cee was a member of The Funky Four Plus 1 and later Double Trouble. Lil Rodney Cee is also known for his M.C. Battle with Busy Bee Starski on Wild Style.

According to 2018 data from Spotify, there are over 8,000 artists with the prefix ‘Lil’ in their name on the Spotify music streaming platform alone.
