Lil Baby Reflects on ‘It’s Only Me’ Disappointment

Published January 21, 2025 by

Wham Opens Up About the Pressure Behind His 2022 Album and Announces Two New Releases for 2025

Lil Baby has revealed that he was not fully satisfied with his 2022 album It’s Only Me, despite its commercial success. In a recent cover story for Complex, the rapper admitted to feeling pressured by his record label to release the project when he wasn’t mentally prepared for it. “I didn’t even want to put It’s Only Me out at the time, because I wasn’t ready,” he shared. “I wasn’t in [the right] headspace… it was nothing that I really loved, and nothing I even really liked.”

Despite his dissatisfaction, the album debuted at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 and went on to become his third consecutive platinum release. Now, Baby is back with WHAM, which topped the Billboard 200 in its first week of release. The album, featuring artists like Travis Scott, Future, and 21 Savage, showcases a more energetic and “turnt” side of Baby, with themes of fast cars, jewelry, and the high life.

Looking ahead to 2025, Baby teased another album titled Dominique, which he says will offer a more introspective, personal approach. “Dominique is more the serious me, more personal,” he explained. Fans can expect an emotional shift as Baby opens up about his life journey.
