LiAngelo Ball Takes Over Ford Field with “Tweaker” Performance

From the Court to the Stage: Gelo’s Rise in Music Continues

LiAngelo Ball, known as “Gelo” to his fans, lit up the halftime show during the NFC divisional playoff between the Detroit Lions and Washington Commanders on Saturday night in Detroit. Ball performed his hit song, “Tweaker,” which has taken the internet by storm since its release earlier this month. The track debuted at No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100, marking a major milestone for the former basketball player turned rapper.

Despite the Lions falling short with a 45-31 loss to the underdog Commanders, Ball’s musical moment stood out. On social media, fans reflected on his journey from basketball benchwarmer to Billboard chart-topper. One user on X (formerly Twitter) praised his rise, saying, “He said it in the song, he was below but made it to the top. Shout to his parents, they played a huge part in his career.” However, some critics were less kind, with one fan commenting on the performance, “It’s like the rich kids dressing down and acting street without living it.”

Ball’s music career has been gaining momentum since he signed a $13 million deal with Def Jam Recordings, following his short stint with the Detroit Pistons. With “Tweaker” trending, Gelo’s star power is on the rise.
