Months before Lauryn Hill released her album The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill (August 25, 1998), she wrote and produced Aretha Franklin‘s 1998 single ‘A Rose Is Still A Rose’, which was off Aretha Franklin’s 37th studio album ‘A Rose Is Still A Rose’. Lauryn Hill also directed the ‘A Rose Is Still A Rose’ music video in which she makes a cameo in with Faith Evans, Changing Faces, and more R&B singers.

The song peaked at No. 26 on the Billboard Hot 100.
