Since a youngin,’ King Von has been in and out of jail. In 2017, Von walked away a free man after witnesses failed to testify. While in jail, Von got his nickname “Grandson,” as he explains during an episode of “Welcome to my Neighborhood: O’Block.”
“The term ‘Grandson’ came from when I was in jail. Some old head, he got to calling me ‘Grandson’ and shit. Then he said I be acting how I move. They started calling me grandson in there. I been running with it ever since,” Von explained.
In 2019, King Von released his first mixtape, Grandson Vol, which featured his first track recorded, “Crazy Story” and “Twin Nem,” featuring Lil Durk.
