Kendrick Lamar Accepts Responsibility for Black Hippy Album That Never Happened on ‘Heart Pt. 6’

Kendrick Lamar Owns Up to Black Hippy Album Delay on ‘Heart Pt. 6’

Kendrick Lamar is coming clean about why we haven’t heard much from the broken-up supergroup Black Hippy.

In “Heart Pt. 6” – off his unexpected album GNX, which he dropped on Friday, November 22 – Kendrick talks about the beginnings of TDE with Jay Rock, ScHoolboy Q, Ab-Soul, and every other player involved.

He states in the last verse that this was the reason no album came out for the group since he was busy with other things.

“I jog my memory, knowin’ Black Hippy didn’t work ’cause of me/Creatively, I moved on with new concepts in reach/Top, remember all them sessions we would strategize/To hit the streets, then come back, record three records?”

Also notable is Kendrick’s ability to copy the title of the song by Drake while conveniently ignoring his presence in the whole story. Earlier this year, in the course of their beef, Drake borrowed Kendrick’s The Heart series and took a shot at him in a version of “The Heart Part 6” which also featured Kendrick, however, this version was deleted later on from the streaming services.
