June 1st is Declared “Nipsey Hussle Appreciation Day” in Harlem

Published June 1, 2020 by

On June 1st, 2019, Harlem, NY (borough of Manhattan) Officials declared it “Nipsey Hussle Appreciation Day.” On March 31, 2019, the Los Angeles renaissance and voice-of-the-people native was fatally shot in front of his Marathon Clothing store at Slauson Ave and Crenshaw Boulevard, in L.A. Nipsey Hussle is dearly missed.

On June 1st, 2019, the day was made official at Rucker Park. Community members and fans of Nipsey were in attendance. Nipsey didn’t just touch his neighborhood with inspiration, he touched many others. “The Marathon Continues” was Nipsey’s mantra for everyday living, but it was also for us to continue on, in his name. With so many folks lacking guidance, Nipsey’s voice is important to bigger picture.

A year and some months later, Nipsey’s presence is missed, but his spirit still guides a majority of us. Nipsey Hussle wasn’t just a man rapping over instrumentals, he was a leader, family man, philanthropist, investor and much more.
