Joey Bada$$ Fires Fresh Shots at Kendrick Lamar on New Track

Published June 30, 2025 by

Brooklyn rapper escalates lyrical feud with bars aimed at the Compton icon

Joey Bada$$ has stirred the pot once again, directing fresh jabs at Kendrick Lamar in his latest release, “My Town.” Although the primary target appears to be Top Dawg Entertainment’s Rey Vaughn, the Brooklyn MC couldn’t resist sending a few pointed lines toward Lamar.

In the track, Joey proclaims, “I’m the real boogeyman, y’all n-ggas should be afraid / Get the general, I’m killing his troops,” suggesting a challenge to Kendrick’s leadership in the rap game. He follows up with a sharp wordplay: “Don’t make me Pulitzer, better be wise because / I’m dottin T’s and cross your eyes like Whitaker.”

This isn’t the first time Joey has looked west. On a recent diss titled The Finals, he acknowledged Kendrick directly: “I salute you Kenny but I know you well aware / You lookin’ for some competition? Then just know that I’ll be right here.”

The ongoing tension traces back to Joey’s The Ruler’s Back earlier this year, which took aim at West Coast rap as a whole. So far, Kendrick has yet to respond publicly, but fans are closely watching to see if the Compton lyricist will enter the fray.
