Jermaine Dupri explains why his new documentary ‘Freaknik: The Wildest Party Story Never Told’ is hip-hop

Dupri has new doc out

Jermaine Dupri recently released his brand new documentary, Freaknik: The Wildest Party Never Told, inspired by Freaknik events that took place during spring breaks in the ’80s and ’90s. The film is executive-produced by Dupri himself along with 21 Savage, and directed by P. Frank Williams.

During a recent conversation with Allhiphop, the rapper shed light on why the doc should be considered hip-hop. “It’s definitely a musical documentary that it’s also a Hip-Hop documentary,” Dupri said. “That’s another thing that people, I noticed that people don’t understand that it’s a Hip-Hop documentary that we haven’t had. Right. It’s a southern hip hop documentary, but we haven’t had a Hip-Hop documentary in the last 10 years, as far as I’m concerned, that brings the age group between parents and their kids as close as the age groups are now.”
