Island Vibes Puerto Rico – 5 rappers with Puerto Rican Heritage

Published March 22, 2022 by

Puerto Ricans have long been influential in rap and hip-hop. Many of the early breakdancers and graffiti artists were New Yorkers with heritage in Puerto Rico. Joel Ortiz, Immortal Technique, and J-Lo all have Boricua roots. Here are five rappers with proud Puerto Rican roots.

Fat Joe

Joey Crack has long repped his borough and his origins. The Bronx native is both Cuban and Puerto Rican and expresses his love for the island often.

Jim Jones

The Dipset rapper is from Harlem but his ancestry comes via Aruba and Puerto Rico.

N.O.R.E.

1/2 of CNN and host of Drink Champs on REVOLT, N.O.R.E. is from Queens but he is Puerto Rican on his father’s side.

Lloyd Banks

The G-Unit stand-out reps his Puerto Rican Heritage and even got down at New York’s Puerto Rican Day Parade.
