Island Vibes DR – 8 artists with Dominican ancestry

The Dominican Republic is one of the nations that share the island of Hispaniola in the Caribbean sea. As many New Yorkers know, the culture from the DR has become a mainstay in the American melting pot, especially with respect to music and dance. Here is a list of artists with Dominican blood running through their veins.

Juelz Santana

According to NORE, both Juelz Santana and Fabolous are undercover Latinx rappers with roots in the DR. Th Dipset rapper doesn’t seem to know the language but he is in fact Dominican by blood.


Fabolous

As previously mentioned, the BK rapper Fabolous is also Dominican. He may not talk about it a lot in his music but he def reps his culture.

AZ

Doe or Die rapper AZ is also Afro-Dominican. Born Anthony Cruz, the Illmatic show-stealer is half Dominican.

Dash Flash

The CT rapper known as Dash Kash is making noise repping his Dominican roots. The NYC-born artist flips it in both Spanish and English.


Dave East

In addition to being Trini, Cardi B is also Dominican. She flexed hard for her Latina roots and is known for switching up her flow into Spanish.

The Houston rapper is Black, Dominican, and Mexican.


DaniLeigh
