Detective says YNW Melly was the ‘’likely’’ triggerman in the killing of his friends

Police detective to testify to against YNW Melly in double murder case

YNW Melly’s murder trial is set for July 6, and according to TMZ, prosecutors will call a police detective as an expert witness to testify that the incarcerated rapper was the ‘’likely’’ shooter in the murder of his two friends.

The detective, Christopher Williams, says his examination concludes that the fatal shots were fired from the backseat, behind the driver. He says that the gun was fired at most 8 times, just inches away from the victim.

Melly’s tried to have the detective dropped as a witness, but the court denied the motion. The court argued that testimony doesn’t have to be 100% conclusive and that Melly’s defence has the chance to scrutinize the detective’s findings and methodology.

Melly is charged with two counts of first degree murder and faces death penalty if convicted. He’s accused of killing his fellow YNW crew members, Christopher “YNW Juvy” Thomas Jr. and Anthony “YNW Sakchaser” Williams.

Cortlen “YNW Bortlen” Henry is also being charged with the murders and being an accessory after the fact. Bortlen was released on bond in 2020, but was arrested in April 2021 for violating his release conditions. He was again granted bond in August 2021 and placed on house arrest.
