Andre 3000’s first rap name was Black Wolf

Published January 18, 2022 by

Andre 3000 originally went by the moniker Black Wolf.

Before André Lauren Benjamin was famously known as Andre 3000, he originally went by the moniker Black Wolf, then Dré, then André eventually Andre 3000 settled on Andre 3000 (often stylized André 3000).

When OutKast first started out they went by the moniker 2 Shades Deep and Andre 3000 was known in the group as “Black Wolf”.

Before OutKast’s fourth studio album Stankonia, André 3000 was simply known as “André” or “Dré. At the time, Dr. Dre had massive popularity with his album 2001 and the success of Eminem, especially his production on The Slim Shady LP album. This would inspire Andre 3000 to add “3000” to his rap name to differentiate himself and not be confused with Dr. Dre.

Andre 3000 is also known as Johnny Vulture, 3 Stacks, Sunny Bridges, and Dookieblossumgame III.
