A$AP Rocky did not take much time to rest from his jail time in Sweden before he decided to release new music. I wonder if he had already planned to release this song before his arrest or if that situation accelerated his decision to release it. Anyway, it is always good to have new music from Rocky. ‘Babushka Boi’ is the first single off of A$AP Rocky’s upcoming unnamed album. The instrumental for this song is so hard-hitting and tough; the bass heavy trap beat and mumbled ad-libs in the background will really catch anyone’s attention.
The lyrical content of the song, as well as the title, refers to the head-wrap that A$AP Rocky started wearing last year to cover up a scar on his face. Most people thought he was making a fashion statement, but his Gucci babushkas did have a functionality. The music video for this track is something y’all definitely need to see. With everyone in the video dressed up like characters from the 90’s movie Dick Tracy, Rocky, along with Schoolboy Q and A$AP Nast, performs a comical bank heist.
