50 Cent wrote “How to Rob” during a 30-minute car ride to the studio

Published December 19, 2019 by

50 Cent revealed in his 2005 autobiography, From Pieces to Weight: Once upon a Time in Southside Queens, he wrote his 1999 debut single How to Rob during a 30-minute car ride to his recording studio. The song was released on August 10th, 1999.

‘It wasn’t a difficult song to write. I wrote it in about thirty minutes because it was what I was really feeling at the time. I was sitting back, broke, and watching all these MCs shine and show off their jewellery and cars. I was sitting back, thinking, I wish I could have that chain.‘ 50 Cent wrote in the book.
